And So It Begins…

On the eve of December 31st, 2012, I sat on the couch waiting for my husband to finish getting ready for a party. I was feeling run down. The busy, day-to-day stress that all parents experience plus working at a job that left me creatively unfulfilled was taking its toll. I don’t know when I started just “going-through-the-motions” and not enthusiastically embracing life. My dad’s recent and unexpected passing showed me how quickly it can all be taken away. Something had to change! Then and there I decided to launch this blog.

I’m excited by the beauty world–hey, I was a beauty editor for 15+ years in my previous life–and I’m inspired by all things beautiful (a great meal, the feel of the sun on my skin, a faceted stone, a loyal dog…I could go on and on and on).

With the launch of this blog, I’m feeling energized and focused. I’m looking forward to sharing, learning and exploring. I hope you’ll join me on this journey…

Thank you Jannette! There’s definitely a few kinks to be worked out but I’ll get there. You are so right, my dad was definitely the motivating force here. Life is too short to not just go-for-it. Love to all. Nancy

Good luck Nancy – this is so wonderful! Isn’t it funny how, as grown women, our dads continue to motivate us so significantly, even in their absence? I don’t think I would be running marathons at this stage of my life were it not for the love and inspiration of my father. When I’m running up hills, I still hear his voice encouraging me, “Come on kiddo, you can do it!”.

I think it’s that unconditional love, acceptance and their belief that we can do anything that makes us believe, too. Thanks! Nancy
